WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's volleyball team split its home tri-match on Saturday afternoon, claiming a Northeast-10 sweep over Merrimack and dropping a 3-0 decision to No. 8 Nebraska-Kearney.
After today's results, the Chargers stand at 12-4 overall and remain unbeaten with a 5-0 NE-10 record. UNK also swept Merrimack as a part of the tri-match, with the Lopers improving to 18-2 and the Warriors dropping to 7-9 on the season with a 2-1 mark in conference play.

Amber Cannady (Yonkers, N.Y./Charles E. Gorton) and Kristy Atufunwa (Denver, Colo./Denver East) led the offense from the middle, recording 17 and 16 kills, respectively. Kristen Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) added 14 finishers from the outside and Kaulana Ane (Paia, Hawai'i/Kamehameha) landed 11 kills in addition to her 52 assists in six total sets of action. Kea-Marie Olaso (Kailua, Hawai'i/Le Jardin Academy) averaged 6.00 digs per set in the tri-match.

The Chargers' sweep of visiting Merrimack was led by 12 kills from Cannady with a .500 hitting percentage (12-1-22). Lee added 10 finishers and seven digs, and Ane turned in a solid all-around effort with six kills, 31 assists and eight digs. Defensively, Olaso led all players with 17 digs, and Atufunwa had a hand in four of New Haven's seven team blocks. The Chargers hit .224 and limited the Warriors to a .083 rate, due in part to a 7-2 advantage in team blocks.

Stephanie Sheehan guided the Warriors' offense with a match-best 14 kills and completed a double-double with 15 digs.

Atufunwa led the way against the Lopers with eight kills and a .500 hitting percentage (8-2-12). Cannady added five kills and nine blocks, and Lee chipped in with four. Ane put forth another strong showing from the setter spot with five kills, 21 assists, seven digs and six blocks. The Chargers outblocked the Lopers, 11-6, with Nebraska-Kearney holding the edge in hitting percentage with a .200 clip while New Haven posted an .056 hitting percentage.

2012 AVCA All-America honoree MJ Massanet led UNK with 13 kills and eight digs.
