BOX SCORE 2 TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of New Haven softball team defeated Chowan University 9-1 (5 inn.) and 5-1 in a pair of games on the final day of competition at the NFCA Division II Leadoff Classic. The Chargers improved to 3-3 on the opening weekend of competition. Chowan dropped to 2-8.
Game One vs. Chowan
The Chargers five-inning victory came quick as unearned runs propelled UNH to an eight-run lead.
Brittany Scott (Buena, N.J./Buena Regional) pitched the complete game and recorded her first collegiate victory.
Game Two vs. Chowan
Nicole King (Front Royal, Va./Warren County) and
Micah Stonesifer (Archer City, Texas/Archer City / Vernon College) combined for the victory in the cirle for the Chargers in game two of the day. King earned the win as UNH never trailed in the game, while Stonesifer entered in releif in the fifth inning.
Keri Tricinelli (Brick, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) laid down the eventual game-winning suicide squeeze.

New Haven now has nearly one month off before returning to the field on Tuesday, March 12 when it travels to Dominican in Orangeburg, N.Y. First pitch of the doubleheader will take place at 2:30 p.m.
