Baseball Splits with Mercy on Day One in Florida

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The University of New Haven baseball team split a doubleheader with Mercy College on the first day of its spring trip in Florida. The Chargers won the first game 8-0 and dropped the nightcap 3-1 to the Mavericks.

John Melville (Ulster Park, N.Y./Kingston) threw six shutout innings in the opening game win. Nick Nunziato (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) led the UNH bats with his first collegiate homerun and three hits. Chris DeMorias added three hits and four RBI.

New Haven returns to action on Sunday, March 17 against Franklin Pierce in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. The games will take place at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla.
