KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Eric Anderson (Newark, N.J./Newark Tech) of the University of New Haven men's basketball team has been named First Team All-District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. He is the Chargers' fifth-ever First Team honoree and the first since Ismael Caro in 2004.

Anderson completed his junior season ranked second on the team with 15.8 points per game, shooting 50.4 percent from the field. He currently ranks seventh in the nation and second in the Northeast-10 with 11.7 rebounds per contest and is one of five student-athletes in all of Division II to record 20 or more double-doubles. Anderson also ranks 17th nationally in blocked shots this winter after breaking the New Haven single-season record with 75 rejections.

The junior from Newark, N.J. was named the Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season in addition to First Team All-NE-10 honors. He surpassed the 1,000-point plateau this winter and will begin his senior campaign with 1,099 career points to his credit. Anderson also ranks sixth in rebounds at New Haven with 917 and owns the program record with 197 career blocked shots.

Anderson netted double figures in 25 of 30 games and hauled in double-digit rebounds in 22 contests. He scored a career-best 29 points, including the game-winning free throws in the closing seconds, in the 72-70 win over Bentley on Jan. 22.

The Chargers finished the 2013-14 season with a record of 21-9. New Haven reached the Northeast-10 Championship Game for the first time in program history and earned the program's second consecutive NCAA Division II East Region Championship appearance.
