New Haven Men's Basketball Alum Quashawn Lane Named Player of the Year in Germany

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Men's Basketball alumnus Quashawn Lane, playing professionally in Germany, has been named Player of the Year for the ETB Miners of the German BARMER 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProB.

Lane, a 6'2'' guard, is currently playing professionally in Germany. Recently, he played a crucial role in ETB Miners' triumph over the eighth-ranked Skyliners II, with a final score of 81-74 in the German BARMER 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProB. Lane's outstanding performance earned him the title of MVP of the game, as he contributed 20 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals in just 30 minutes of play. This remarkable display is even more impressive considering that Lane is only in his third season of professional basketball. ETB Miners Essen, currently leading the North group with a record of 22-4, secured their sixth consecutive victory, thanks in large part to Lane's stellar performance. This season marks Lane's debut with the team, and he has showcased his talent consistently. In a recent game against Frankfurt Jrs, Lane scored 20 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and provided 4 assists, leading his team to another victory. His exceptional skills on the court have undoubtedly established him as a true champion. Individually, Lane is having an exceptional season, boasting impressive averages of 16.0 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, 5.8 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game. Lane's exceptional contributions and remarkable statistics highlight his prowess as a true champion and finalist.

A 2022 and 2023 graduate of New Haven, appeared in 113 games for the Blue & Gold over four years (not including the 2020-21 season that was cancelled due to COVID-19), starting 110 of them.

Lane became the 38th member in program history to score 1,000 points, and finished his career with the 18th most points in program history (1,350). Lane also sits fifth all-time in program history in free-throw percentage at 81.4%. The Trenton, N.J. native sits third all-time in assists with 428 and ninth in steals with 142.

Last season with Ballincollig of the Ireland-Super League, Lane posted 15.4 points per game and 2.8 assists per game in 18 contests.
