Brooke Fisher (Erial, N.J./Camden Catholic) recorded a two-out RBI single to right center in the top of the eighth inning to score the game-winning run for the University of New Haven softball team in a 2-1 victory at the College of Saint Rose Friday afternoon. The game winning hit came after pitcher
Victoria Cabral (New Britain, Conn./Miss Porter's School / Hofstra University) and the UNH defense got out of a bases loaded jam with one out in the bottom of the previous inning.

Cabral threw a total of 142 pitches in her 12th win and 13th complete game of the season. She allowed one earned run and five hits while fanning seven and walking six. She finished by striking out the leadoff in the bottom of the eighth and retiring the final out batters via groundout.
Fisher went 2-for-4 at the dish with the game-winning RBI.

Lindsey Couturier (Dighton, Mass./Dighton Rehoboth Regional) drove in the Chargers' first run in the opening inning with a one-out grounder to second base.
With one out in the top of the first, Dianno put down an infield single to the pitcher as the Chargers' first base runner of the afternoon. She then stole second with Couturier at the plate and scored when senior grounded out the second base on the fourth pitch of her at-bat.
Saint Rose left one runner on base, including a total of three in scoring position, in each of the first four innings but Cabral held them scoreless through four. UNH put the leadoff batter on base and followed it up with a single in the top of the fourth, but the Golden Knights turned a double play and ended the Chargers' chance of plating additional runs.
In the bottom of the fifth, Saint Rose managed two hits and its only run of the afternoon. After a leadoff fly-out, the Golden Knights loaded the bases with a pair of singles and a walk. Olivia Reeves scored the run by putting down a fielder's choice RBI to even the game at 1-1.

Cabral worked out of the seventh with the game-winning run just 60 feet away and one out on the board. She threw a strikeout for the second out and a fielder's choice ended regulation.
In the top half of the eighth, Dianno reached on a fielding error and advanced to second on a throwing error two batters later. Fisher then stepped to the plate and drove in the game-winning run with two outs. The side was retired in the bottom of the eighth and UNH went on for the 2-1 victory.
