BOX SCORE MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The University of New Haven baseball team tallied four runs in both the fourth and ninth innings to pick up its first win of 2015, downing the Adelphi Panthers 8-2 on Sunday night.

With the win the Chargers improve to 1-3. The Panthers fall to 1-3 with the setback.

Trailing 1-0 heading into the fourth, New Haven opened the frame with
Robert Petrillo (Branford, Conn./Branford) singling back through the middle.
Zach Collett (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) stood in and hit his second home run in as many nights over the leftfield wall to put the Chargers up 2-1.
TJ Riccio (Port Jeff Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) kept the inning going with a single through the right side before
Kyle Cullen (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) drove a triple to center, plating Riccio for a 3-1 lead.
Jack Zagaja (Merrick, N.Y./St. Dominic) capped the scoring in the inning with a single to right-centerfield to score Cullen and extend the New Haven lead to 4-1.

Adelphi chipped away with a run in the fifth to make it 4-2. The score held steady until the top of the ninth when the Chargers salted the game away. With one out,
Tom Walraven (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) hit his first homer of the season to make it 5-2. Petrillo singled next before Collett tripled to rightfield to push the lead to 6-2. A single by Riccio drove home Collett and singles by Cullen and
Eddie Tammaro (South Hempstead, N.Y./South Side) plated Riccio to cap the scoring.

On the mound,
Vincent Aprea (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) earned the win surrendering just two runs in five innings.
Kellen Croce (Middlebury, Conn./Gunnery School) authored four shutout innings, giving up just a pair of hits to record his first save of the season.

Offensively, Petrillo enjoyed a 4-for-4 day at the dish while Riccio had three hits. Collett, Cullen, Tammato and Zagaja each had a pair of hits with Collett driving in three runs.

New Haven returns to action on Tuesday, March 17 when it faces Caldwell at 3:30 p.m. in Lantana, Fla.
