WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven volleyball team (6-3, 2-0 NE-10) remains unbeaten in Northeast-10 Conference play following a three-set sweep (25-23, 25-23, 25-21) of the Franklin Pierce Ravens on Saturday at Charger Gym. Leading the Chargers was freshman outside hitter Mallory Nowicki (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview) who finished with 14 kills and an impressive .481 hitting average.
HIGHLIGHTS
· Nowcki's 14 kills is a career high and her first game of the season with double figures. Overall, the freshman finished with just one error in 27 total attempts for the team-leading hitting percentage.
· Sophomore setter Kristine Rios (Miami, Fla./Coral Reef) collected her second straight triple double finishing with 10 kills and 18 assists to go along with a team-high 21 digs.
· Joining Nowicki and Rios in leading the hitting efforts was senior outside hitter Meghan Kennelly (Detroit, Mich./Eisenhower) who chipped in 13 kills, her third straight, and fifth match of the season with double figure kills.
· In addition to Rios' 18 assists, senior setter Annika Hacker (Bayreuth, Germany/Littleton (Colo.)) led the Chargers with 19 assists while adding two aces and four digs.
· Defensively, the Chargers had four players finish in double figures led by Rios' 21 digs. Joining her was sophomore libero Lindsey Kim (Rye Brook, N.Y./Blind Brook) who finished with 19 and Kennelly and Brianna Mirmina (Bethany, Conn./Amity Regional) who each added 11.

The Chargers will play their next three matches on the road beginning with back-to-back non-conference matches at NYIT and Bridgeport. First on the docket will be the NYIT Bears with opening serve set for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28.
