Women's Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Seven Matches with Sweep of Daemen

AMHERST, N.Y. – Junior Mallory Nowicki (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview) recorded a double-double for the first time this season, putting down 10 kills and adding 12 digs as the University of New Haven women's volleyball team swept Daemen College in non-conference action on Sept. 23.

Nowicki recorded double figures in kills for the 13th time this season and assisted on four of the 10 Charger blocks on the afternoon. Sophomore Camille Garden (Atlanta, Ga./Landmark Christian) also put down 10 kills on a .421 hitting percentage while also tallying five blocks. Senior Kristine Rios (Miami, Fla./Coral Reef) finished with a match-high 31 assists, recording her sixth game with 30 or more helpers on the season.

As a team, New Haven limited Daemen to just a .138 hitting percentage while converting on nearly 25-percent of their attack attempts. The Chargers dominated at the net, totaling 10 blocks to just two for the Wildcats. The defense came up large during the second set, finishing with four blocks and limiting Daemen to a match-low .044 attack percentage.

New Haven put the match away with its most efficient game during set three, posting a .290 attack percentage with 13 kills. Garden posted four kills during the final set, while sophomore Kali Greathead (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley) added three of her five kills during the frame.

The Chargers return to action with a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Merrimack College on Tuesday, Sept. 25 with the first serve scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
