THE LEAD
The New Haven women's volleyball team returns to action tonight, wrapping a four-game road-trip with a trip to Pleasantville, N.Y. to take on Pace. First serve from the Goldstein Fitness Center is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (13-5, 3-0 NE10)
New Haven comes into the match on fire of late, winners of their last eight games and 12 of the last 13. A trio of players have dominated in the Charger attack, led by junior outside
Emily Barry (Freeport, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) who became the first player in the NE10 to eclipse 200 kills for the season, hitting that number on the mark with 10 hammers against Caldwell on last Tuesday, now sitting with 214, third-best in the NE10. Senior right-side Jessica Akiona and freshman Macy Brown (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac) sit second and third, respectively on the team, having just passed the double-century mark as well with 203 and 201 kills. Freshman setter Sophia Leon-Tabor (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) has hit the ground running her rookie season, as she has already tossed out 656 assists in 17 matches thus far, currently the 10th highest mark in all of Division II. Defensively, sophomore libero Rilee Jessee (Edinburgh, Ind,/Columbus East) has corralled 275 of opponent attack attempts, followed by Brown's 210 digs, and Barry's 204. Senior middle Asiya Way (Denver, Colo./Denver East) continues to lead the efforts at the tape, with 61 blocks in 2021, ahead of Akiona with 34 and sophomore middle Emily Smith (Chesterfield, Mich./Anchor Bay) with 33.

SCOUTING THE SETTERS (1-10, 0-5 NE10)
Still looking for its first win in conference play, the Setters enter play with just one win overall, coming in a five-set victory over Felician on Sept. 7. Brielle Jones leads the attack for Pace as the only player with 100 or more kills with 113, double the next highest mark. A pair of setters sit atop the assists totals, with Leonarda Uljic leading with 104, ahead of Stephanie Sicilian with 96. Emily Cockell leads the defensive efforts with 110 digs this season, with Daniella Abbastante and Abby Robertson tied for the team-high in blocks with 21.

BROWN NABS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONORS IN COLLEGIATE DEBUT
With 50 kills last weekend, including 26 in her collegiate debut Brown was named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors in Week one of the 2021 volleyball season. The 26 kills from Brown are the most by a player at New Haven since Sept. 24, 2011, when Keidy Candelaria matched that number against Franklin Pierce

BARRY, AKIONA NAMED TO ALL-TOURNEY TEAM IN OPENING WEEKEND
Barry and Akiona were both named to the first-team all-tournament roster at the Tony Banner Memorial Tournament last weekend. Barry totaled 53 kills, 53 digs, 6 assists, and three solo blocks across the four matches, while Akiona tallied 50 kills, 12 digs, and five block assists.

AKIONA, LEON-TABOR EARN ALL-TOURNAMENT NODS AT WESLEYAN
Following the conclusion of the tournament, both Akiona and Leon-Tabor earned spots on all-tournament teams. Akiona finished the weekend with 45 kills, along with 19 digs and nine total blocks, earning a first-team all-tournament nod, while Leon-Tabor's 98 assists and 26 digs nabbed her a spot as a second-
team all-tournament honoree.
