Baseball Announces 31-game Slate for 2021 Campaign; Season Kicks off With Home Series versus Pace

FULL 2021 SCHEDULE

WEST HAVEN, Conn. –
University of New Haven head baseball coach Chris Celano has announced a 31-game regular season schedule for the 2021 campaign, his 10th season at the helm of the Blue and Gold.

This announcement comes in light of the Northeast-10 Conference's recent announcement from the Council of Presidents to proceed with a spring sports season. All scheduled games are subject to change based on COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

The NE10 has adopted a divisional format for 2021 – Northeast and Southwest – with all programs slated to play a 24-game conference schedule. Series will consist of four games on weekends in doubleheader format, while schools maintain the ability to extend the weekend series to three days or alter the days in which they play in accordance with academic calendars. New Haven will play in the Southwest Division which is made up of seven teams including Adelphi, American International, Le Moyne, Pace, Saint Rose and Southern Connecticut.

A playoff structure and dates of a postseason conference tournament are in development and will be released at a later date.

UNH will open its 2021 campaign on Friday, March 19, with a single game against Pace University at Frank Viera Field in West Haven. When the Chargers return to the field on March 19, they will do so 389 days since their last game, an 8-2 victory that wrapped up a four-game (3-1 record) appearance in the Northeast Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The opening series against Pace will consist of three games total with a doubleheader slated for Saturday, March 20. Those three games are part of seven straight home dates for the Blue and Gold as they will not play a road contest until a mid-week match-up with Adelphi University on April 7.

Following the opening series against Pace, the Chargers will welcome Le Moyne for a weekend series on March 27-28, before rounding out its season opening homestand with a three-day series against Adelphi which will stretch Friday and Saturday, April 2-3, and will conclude on Monday, April 5.

After the lone mid-week road game at Adelphi on April 7, the Chargers will play a pair of road conference series against American International (April 9-11) and Saint Rose (April 15-18). New Haven will then return to West Have for its final regular season series as they welcome crosstown rival Southern Connecticut State University for a three-day set scheduled for April 23-25.

The final divisional series of the season for New Haven comes in the form of a trip to Pleasantville, N.Y. where they will take on Pace University over a three-day span from April 30-May 2. The Blue and Gold will then conclude the regular season with a three-game series against Northeast Division member Saint Anselm on May 8-9.

All home games will be broadcast live, for free, on the Charger Sports Network on NE10Now.TV. Additionally, live stats will be provided with links available at NewHavenChargers.com.
