Football Secures 12 on Signing Day

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – University of New Haven head football coach Chris Pincince announced the addition of 12 players who will join the Chargers as true freshman starting in the fall of 2021. Among the group are eight players on the offensive side of the ball and four defensive players.

"We have had to learn how to adjust our evaluations and improvise in our ways to add to our roster" said Pincince. "One thing we learned is that the University of New Haven has great selling points and is a destination University for Northeast football players."

Among the offensive additions are three players who will bolster the Chargers offensive line including Neil Brown (Woodbridge, Conn.), Owen MacDonough (South Burlington, Vt.) and Sam Scott (Simsbury, Conn.). The trio will look to protect a pair of incoming quarterbacks Brady Lafferty (Southington, Conn.) and Ethan Reed (Windsor, N.Y.). Lafferty, who hails from Southington High School, has connections to the University that run deep as his mother was a member of the Chargers 1987 Women's Basketball National Championship team, while also playing softball for the Blue and Gold.

Rounding out the additions on offense will be a pair of specialists in running back Christopher Ais (Stoughton, Mass) and wide receiver Zach Conlan who makes the long trip to campus from West Haven, Conn., as well as kicker/punter Chase DiCarlo (North Haven, Conn.)

Flipping sides to the defense, the Chargers will welcome a pair of corner backs in Keenan Stockling (Union, N.J.) and completing a pair of twins on the roster; Christian Ais (Stoughton, Mass.). The remaining two additions on defense include defensive end Jadon Louis who hails from Willingboro, N.J. and outside linebacker Alex Kyriacou from Plainview, N.Y.

In addition to those signing national letters of intent, the Chargers have welcomes two players that started classes this spring in linebacker David Abolarinwa (New Bedford, Mass.) and running back Jalen Smith (Bronx, N.Y.).
