Chargers Spring Sports Teams All Northeast-10 Conference Postseason Bound

West Haven, CT - The six New Haven spring sports teams currently in season are all headed to the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Playoffs.

The NE10 recently stated in announcing their Postseason Plan, "Key changes to the normal postseason format include a three-day schedule for outdoor track & field where men and women will each compete separately over a day and a half. For sports whose regular seasons are being played within divisions, the postseason format will retain a divisional format until the final championship game or series. Each division will have its own seven-team bracket to determine the two teams, one from each, that will play for the NE10 championship."

As a result, the Chargers baseball, softball, and track and field teams (men and women) as well as the Blue and Gold women's lacrosse and tennis teams will all experience postseason play upon the conclusion of their regular-season schedules.

The NE10 added, "All brackets or schedules are subject to change based on the established institutional and conference health protocol. The health and safety of student-athletes, coaches and campus communities remains the primary focus for the league."

Each sport's postseason schedule is listed below and the bracket or championship meet info is linked for additional information. The dates have also been placed on their respective schedule on newhavenchargers.com. All games will be played at the site of the higher seed, with the exception of men's and women's track and field, which will be hosted by AIC.

The Northeast-10 and its member schools, including the University of New Haven Athletic Department, will make every effort to broadcast all games via the respective school's portal on NE10 NOW.

UNH is in the Southwest Division of the Northeast-10 for baseball, softball and women's lacrosse. New Haven will play in the Southwest Division Playoffs, which is made up of seven teams, including Adelphi, American International, Le Moyne, Pace, Saint Rose and Southern Connecticut.  The other seven institutions play in the Northeast Division and will follow the same playoff format.

For those sports (baseball, softball, and women's lacrosse), the Chargers will compete for the division title first with the winners of the two divisions meeting for the right to be declared the Northeast-10 Conference Champion.

In women's tennis, all 11 participating teams will be placed in one bracket, culminating with a championship match on Sunday, May 2.

Track and field will compete over three days at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Meet, which will be held from Thursday, May 6 through Saturday, May 8 at Ronald Abdow Field on the campus of AIC in Springfield, Mass.
