Softball Remains Among Those Under Consideration in Latest NCAA Regional Rankings

FULL WEEK 2 REGIONAL RANKINGS

WEST HAVEN, Conn. –
Week two of the regional rankings is here and the New Haven Softball team remains among the top-eight in the East Region and among those under consideration for a spot in the upcoming NCAA East Region Championship hosted by Saint Anselm on May 19-22.

Previously, the regional rankings would be released with schools ranked 1-8, however beginning in 2021, in the first two releases, the NCAA has chosen to release a list of schools who are under consideration for one of the six spots in the regional championship.

Through games completed as of April 28, New Haven holds a 19-5 record in the regional rankings with Georgian Court leading the group of eight with a 22-4 mark. Overall, New Haven is one of four teams from the Northeast-10 under consideration with Adelphi (18-6) joining the Chargers from the Southwest Division and Saint Anselm (20-4) and Franklin Pierce (14-6) representing the Northeast Division.

The Chargers will close out the regular season this weekend when they host the Pace Setters for a four-game series that is scheduled for doubleheaders on Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2. First pitch on both days is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.

Leading the Blue and Gold into the weekend is junior second baseman Nahtali Simpson (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) who closed out a doubleheader sweep of American International on Tuesday going 6-of-7 at the plate with three RBI.
