Baseball Chargers Enjoying Summer Success
West Haven, CT - The New Haven baseball team has been gearing up for the spring 2022 season ever since leaving campus in May with many having successful summer seasons from as nearby as Norwich, Connecticut to as far away as Parkland, Florida.
Here's a run down on how some of the returning Chargers have done as most of the summer collegiate leagues have reached the midway point of their schedules.
Andrew Bianco (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) - Parkland Sharks - College League of the Palm Beaches
Through 19 games, Bianco is hitting .317 with three HR's, 5 doubles, and 11 RBIs. He has scored 14 runs and stolen four bases.
Dylan Chiaro (Southington, Conn./Southington) - Parkland Sharks - College League of the Palm Beaches
Through 17 games, Chiaro has contributed four RBIs, one double, two stolen bases and scored seven runs.
Andrew Pulcini (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) - Parkland Sharks - College League of the Palm Beaches
Pulcini has scored five runs and has two RBIs in 10 games.
Pitcher Thomas Eletto (Locust Valley, N.Y./Locust Valley) has just joined the team and has pitched once so far.

Robert Taylor (Wolcott, Conn./The Gunnery) - Mohawk Valley - Perfect Game
Through 22 games, Taylor has contributed three home runs, three doubles, 11 RBIs, 14 runs scored, and four stolen bases.

Izaiya Mestre (Pittsfield, Mass./Taconic) - Pittsfield Suns - The Futures League
Mestre, who earned a Futures League All-Star berth, has had an impeccable start for the Suns. He has started five games, compiling a 2-0 record. He has allowed only three earned runs in 24 innings and is pitching to a 1.12 ERA. He has also struck out 28 and walked only five batters.

Three other Chargers are playing in The Futures League, all for the Norwich Sea Unicorns - Tyler Wells (Danville, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy), Noah Budzik (Cromwell, Conn./Cromwell), and Gary Costello (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire). Wells has played in 20 games with eight hits, six stolen bases, three RBIs and runs scored. Budzik has recorded six hits in 16 games, while adding five RBIs and runs scored with a pair of stolen bases. On the mound, Costello has thrown 12.2 innings in eight appearances, striking out eight batters.

Cam Guarino (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) - Norsemen - GNCBL (Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League)
Guarino was one of only nine pitchers named to the GNCBL All-Star Game on Friday, July 16 at Hadlock Field, home of the Portland Sea Dogs.
