Women’s Lacrosse Named Honor Squad, Four Chargers Earn Individual Accolades

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. –
With cumulative grade point averages of 3.5 or higher, seniors Emily Holland (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) (health sciences) and Lyndsay Miller (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker) (communication, film & media) and juniors Julia Astram (Milford, Conn./Milford) (biology) and Megan McLoughlin (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) (health sciences) earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll accolades. The quad also led the Chargers to IWLCA Honor Squad distinction as the Blue and Gold combined for a team GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Overall, a total of 442 student-athletes, representing 73 different institutions, earned 2021 IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Roll honors which requires a minimum of junior, senior or graduate student status with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The four New Haven honorees are part of 67 total student-athletes honored from the Northeast-10 Conference with those representing 11 schools.

The IWLCA Honor Squad team recognition is presented to Division I, II, III and NAIA programs with a combined grade point average of 3.2 or higher for the 2020-21 academic year. Overall, 319 schools across all four divisions received the honor with New Haven part of 55 schools representing Division II, of which eight are members of the NE10.

Overall, this is the 11th straight year New Haven has earned an Honor Squad distinction (2020 was not awarded due to CoVID-19 pandemic), with the award being presented annually starting with the 2009 season. Individually, 2021 marks the 10th straight year the Chargers have had at least one player earn Honor Roll distinction.

New Haven finished its 2021 campaign with a 7-7 overall record, including a mark of 6-5 in the NE10 Southwest Division, closing out the regular season fourth in the division. The Chargers earned a victory over crosstown rival Southern Connecticut in the opening round of the NE10 Championship before falling to No. 3 nationally Le Moyne in the Southwest Division semifinal round.
