WEST HAVEN, Conn – Freshman outside Macy Brown (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac) dropped a game-high 12 kills as the New Haven women's volleyball team took a straight set victory over Saint Rose Tuesday night. With the win, the Chargers improve to 8-5 on the year, and 2-0 in Northeast-10 conference play.
Brown along with senior outside Jessica Akiona (Kapolei, Hawaii/La Pietra- Hawaii School for Girls) accounted for 22 of the Chargers 38 kills, with Brown adding three service aces, including two straight points off the serve in the second set. Freshman setter Sophia Leon-Tabor (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) dished out 32 of 34 total assists to six different players.
On defense for the Blue and Gold, Leon-Tabor added a game-high 11 digs to her totals, completing a double-double on the night. Akiona finished just behind her with nine digs, while also adding a block assist. Brown also led the team with three total blocks. Three other players tallied block assists on the afternoon as the Chargers improve to 15-1 all-time against Saint Rose.
