FULL NE10 WEEKLY REPORT
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The longest passing play in just shy of 21 years was just one of many highlights for quarterback Connor Degenhardt (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) as he racked up 355 yards and four touchdowns to lead the New Haven football team to a 38-9 win over Southern Connecticut. For his performance against the crosstown rival, Degenhardt was tabbed the Northeast-10 Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office.
Overall for the day, the 355 yards for Degenhardt came on 14 completions for an average of 25+ yards per completion. Among those 14 completions were three TD passes of 30 yards or more including a 93-yarder to Dev Holmes (Troy, N.Y./Troy) and a 70-yarder to Javon Turner (Newark, N.J./Paramus Catholic). Degenhardt also found Holmes for a 30 yard touchdown, with both of the TD's by that duo coming in the fourth quarter.
The 355 yards by Degenhardt was the first time with 350+ yards for a Charger QB since November 2018 when Ajee Patterson finished with 366 yards against LIU Post. For the season, the Westford, Mass. native has racked up 852 yards on 57-of-99 attempts with seven touchdowns.
