WEST HAVEN, Conn. - New Haven men's basketball head coach Ted Hotaling announced a 13-game home slate as part of the full 2021-22 schedule that features 26 games before the Northeast-10 playoffs get underway in late February. Among the highlights on the schedule will be when the Chargers ring in the New Year hosting Adelphi in a 3:30 pm tip off on January 1, 2022.

VIEW FULL 2021-2022 SCHEDULE

New Haven is coming off a 15-15 campaign in the 2019-20 season that ended with a trip to the NE10 Championship game before dropping an overtime decision to Saint Anselm. With the 2020-21 season curtailed by the CoVID-19 pandemic, when New Haven takes the floor for its season opener on November 13, it will be 613 days from their last game, that NE10 Championship Game. That game ended a four-game run that saw New Haven beat Bentley, Le Moyne, and Stonehill on the road to reach the title tilt. The four games were decided by a total of 11 points and featured six overtime sessions. The Chargers beat Bentley (88-82) in double-overtime in the opening round before disposing Stonehill (101-100) in three overtimes in the semifinal contest. 

NOVEMBER

The Chargers will start the season with four road contests, including taking part in the College of Staten Island Tip-off Tournament on opening weekend (Nov. 12-13, 2021). New Haven will play the host school in the opening game, while meeting D'Youville College the next day. The final two games of the four-game road trip will feature a non-conference matchup with Molloy (Nov. 17) and the NE10 opener which will be the longest road trip of the season when they travel to Syracuse to take on Le Moyne (Nov. 20).

New Haven will make its debut at Charger Gymnasium on Tuesday, November 23 as the Pace Setters come to West Haven before the November portion of the schedule concludes on Nov. 27 with a Saturday home non-conference contest against Dominican

DECEMBER

December features six games with only two slated for the cozy confines of Charger Gymnasium. The six-game slate is bookended with short road trips as it begins with the first of two-games against crosstown rival Southern Connecticut (Dec. 1) and ends with a matchup at Bridgeport (Dec. 30) just prior to the New Year.

In between, the Chargers will take on back-to-back NE10 opponents when they travel to Saint Rose (Dec. 4) before hosting American International on (Dec. 7). After 10 days off for final exams, the Chargers get back to work with a pair of non-league games at Bloomfield (Dec. 17) before hosting Chestnut Hill (Dec. 19). The match-up against Bridgeport on Dec. 30 will be the final non-conference game of the season for the Blue and Gold.

JANUARY

The new calendar year will start with a home date against Adelphi on New Year's Day, the first of three straight games at Charger Gym to start the New Year. Following Adelphi will be visits from Franklin Pierce (Jan. 5) and Saint Michael's (Jan. 8) before a single road contest takes the Blue and Gold to Bentley (Jan. 11).

The Chargers then return to host three of their next four games, the first a visit from the Stonehill Skyhawks (Jan 15) for the first meeting between the two since a triple overtime thriller in the NE10 Championship semifinals in 2020. Breaking up the home dates will be a trip to Saint Anselm (Jan. 19) before Assumption (Jan. 22) and Southern New Hampshire (Jan. 25) visit Charger Gym. The month comes to an end with a trip to Rindge, N.H. for a return date with the Franklin Pierce Ravens.

FEBRUARY

The final month of the regular season begins on the road with a visit to Pace (Feb. 2) before a pair of New York teams visit Charger Gym with Le Moyne (Feb. 5) and Saint Rose (Feb. 8) making the trip to West Haven to close out the home-and-home NE10 Divisional series.

Two of the final three games of the regular season will come away from home for New Haven with divisional match-ups against American International (Feb. 12) and Adelphi (Feb. 19) sandwiching the final regular season home game which will feature the second half of the crosstown rivalry when Southern Connecticut makes the short trip on Feb. 16.

Following the regular season, the top five teams from the Northeast and Southwest division will advance to the NE10 Tournament which starts with first-round games on Friday, Feb. 25. The 2022 NE10 Championship game is scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 5 with all rounds of the tournament to be played at home sites.
