After being up 42-33 with a 48.48 field goal shooting percentage in the first half, the Chargers ultimately fell to Bentley by two in the final two minutes of action. Hungry for a win, the Blue and Gold host two games in a short span of three days. First up, the Stonehill Skyhawks.
Inside the Series
Stonehill holds an eight-game advantage over New Haven when it comes to wins, with the Chargers totaling 12 out of the 32 times they have meet on the same hardwood floor as the Skyhawks. In their most recent debate, it took three overtime segments to determine who would advance to the championship round of the NE10 Conference Tournament in the 2019-20 season.
Kessly Felizor scored the final basket with 2:43 to spare allowing New Haven to move past Stone Hill and meet Saint Anselm in the championship. Quashawn Lane (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic Academy) and Derrick Rowland (Cohoes, N.Y./Green Tech) both helped New Haven come out on top that game with 23 and 15 points, respectively.
Owen Chose and Andrew Sims of the Skyhawks were both present in that game, and remain on the roster today. Chose held the team-high of 28 points for the Skyhawks that game back in 2020 and is still one of Stonehill's top-scorer's with 147 points so far this season, he averages 10.5 ppg. Sims put up six points, going 3-for-3 from the field last time. Right now he carries the team in scoring and rebounding with 159 and 77 respectively so far this season.
Scouting the Skyhawks (9-5, 5-2 NE10)
As of right now, Stonehill sits third in the Northeast division of the NE10 conference. New Haven is in the same slot in the Southwest division. The Skyhawks come to West Haven on Saturday coming off a 88-82 victory to Southern New Hampshire. Despite their nine wins, Stonehill ranks 13th in the conference when it comes to scoring, averaging 69.6 ppg.
Scouting the Chargers (8-5, 4-4 NE10)
