How it Happened
The Blue and Gold came into Charger Gym all charged up Monday afternoon. With Quashawn Lane (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic Academy) back in the starting five and Tavin Pierre Philippe (Brooklyn, N.Y./Baldwin High School) filling in for Derrick Rowland (Cohoes, N.Y./Green Tech), New Haven held the Panthers scoreless in the first nine minutes, while putting up 13 beforehand.

With the help of Quashawn Lane (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic Academy), Majur Majak (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) dunked in the paint to put the Chargers ahead by 22 - their largest lead in the first half. Majak finished the night four points shy of a double-double. Justin Forest responded with a three to cut Adelphi's deficit to 19 before going into the half.

At the break Adelphi's biggest threat, Ronnie Silva, was held to zero points. He was 0-for-6 from the field and 0-for-5 from three-point territory. Before this afternoon, Silva was averaging 21.3 points per game - he finished the night with six.

The closest Adelphi got to New Haven's hot and heavy offense was a difference of 13 points. Chris Coalmon ran into the paint to make an unassisted jumper to bring the score 53-40 with 7:08 to go.

In the following five minutes the Chargers responded with a 13-2 run, the only basket scored by Adelphi was a solo jumper in the paint from Adonis Williams. Williams led the Panthers in scoring with ten points. He leads the team in rebounding with 120 so far this season, he was limited to five.

Christian Kellman (Little Neck, N.Y. /John Adams High School ), a sophomore who had his freshman season cancelled because of the CoVID-19 pandemic, tied the knot on New Haven's 17-point victory by pulling out a stand alone jumper in the paint. Kellman has appeared in three games prior to this, the three that started off New Haven's season.
