THE LEAD
The University of New Haven baseball team is coming off a 13-5 win over the Assumption Greyhounds in a midweek game at Frank Vieira Field. The Chargers will travel to up-state New York to take on the Le Moyne Dolphins at in a pair of doubleheaders on Sunday and Monday. First pitch is scheduled for noon on both days and will be played at Dick Rockwell Field.

SERIES HISTORY VS LE MOYNE
The Chargers hold the edge in a tightly contested series between these two programs. New Haven enters the weekend with a 24-21 record against the Dolphins but when on the road, the Chargers trail 2-7 when playing in Syracuse. Le Moyne has won the past three matchups with the latest being a 3-5 loss on May 13, 2021.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS:
The Charger's bats have come to life since their series against the Pace Setters on March 25. After their 6-15 loss on March 27, New Haven has gone on to outscore their opponents 38-21 on their way to a 14-8 record heading into this weekend.

The squad is coming off a dominant 13-5 win over the Assumption Greyhounds in a midweek matchup. In the victory, Cole Maucere (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) led the offense with three hits but the bulk of the damage came from the middle of the lineup as Andrew Cain (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) and Tyler Wells (Danville, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) recorded three RBIs, each.

New Haven was last ranked at seventh in the National College Baseball Writers Association East Region Poll with 33 points.

Although he was held without an RBI in his last game, Maucere has played a major role in the Charger's offense. The freshman left fielder leads the team in RBIs (16), walks (21), triples (3) and OBP (.527) while batting a team second-best .362. Maucere was named NE10 Rookie of the Week after he finished a three-game week with four hits in six at-bats (.667) while also registering seven walks, reaching safely 11 times (OBP of .857). He also scored six runs, drove in three runs, while one of his hits came as his first collegiate home run. He opened up the week with a hit and two walks, scoring twice and driving in a pair of runs against Bridgeport. He followed that up with a five walk outing in the series opener against Southern New Hampshire, while he came around to score twice after earning the free passes. In the second game of the day against the Penmen, he registered three hits, including opening up the game with a lead-off solo home run over the right field fence. Cain, who is coming off a three RBI effort, leads the team with a .379 (25-66) batting average, which also ranks seventh in the conference. Cain has driven in 13 runs on the season, second on the team. Also batting over .300 is center fielder Robert Taylor (Wolcott, Conn./The Gunnery), who bats .349. Taylor is the current team leader in extra base hits (8), six of which have been doubles.

Thomas Eletto (Locust Valley, N.Y./Locust Valley) continues to dominate on the mound, tallying a 1.72 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. The senior allowed eight hits and two walks through 7.0 innings, in his last outing, but also struck out six batters his way to his fourth win of the season. Bryan Pazulski (Media, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara), who owns a 3.06 ERA and 1.52 WHIP, gave a strong performance during his time on the mound. The junior, who currently leads the team with 35 strikeouts, allowed five hits and four walks through 6.0 innings while punching out seven. Liam Carroll (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) tossed a no-hitter across a three-inning start while striking out five.

Although the Penmen had his number last week, Drew Silverman (Commack, N.Y./Commack) stills holds a 2.93 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP while recording 19 strikeouts and five saves, first in the NE10. The junior closer has also held opponents to a team low of a .204 batting average.

SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS:
The Dolphins enter the series on a three-game winning streak after sweeping D'Youville in a two-game series and winning their final game against the Southern Connecticut State Owls. Le Moyne comes into the weekend with a 13-12 record on the season after finishing last year 16-9.

Leading the highly opportunistic offense that had plated 154 runs so far this season, four in the NE10, has been Ty Syta. The senior catcher has gone 31-82 (.378) while hitting five homeruns and driving in 34 runs, both a team high. Syta's 34 RBIs aren't only a team high but a conference high as it ranks first amongst NE10 batters. Graduate INF/OF Michael Smith also has some pop to his bat, hitting four homeruns and 22 RBIs. Drew Fureno leads the Dolphins with a .383 batting average and a .513 on-base percentage while Zach Brush leads the team with 35 hits. On the bases, Brush and Drew Carroll have been active with nine and ten steals, respectively. Brush, Carroll and Nick Nevins have all gone yard twice while Brady Fureno has gone deep once.

On the mound, the Dolphins are led by Jacob Marshall. The junior pitcher was named NE10 Rookie of the Week for week one after he struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, while allowing just three hits, in a 16-0 win. Marshall holds a 4.58 ERA and 1.40 WHIP through 39.1 innings while striking out 57, first in the conference. Max Parker, who leads the Dolphins with four wins, owns a 4.21 ERA and 1.49 WHIP while striking out 31. Marshall and Parker have each also pitched a complete game this season. The only other pitcher with six starts has been Joe Vail, who holds a 1-2 record while also recording a save. Four other Dolphins, not including Vail, have also tallied a save on the campaign.

UP NEXT
New Haven will head to Dobbs Ferry to play in a midweek doubleheader with the Mercy Mavericks. First pitch for that game is scheduled for 3:30 PM at Mercy Field.
