THE FIRST LOOK
It's back to a 0-0 record for the New Haven football team as a new season begins this afternoon, the Northeast-10 Conference regular season, as the Blue and Gold look to repeat as league champions after going undefeated, 8-0 last year. Today's game is also the University's annual Family Day, welcoming nearly 2,000 parents, friends, and family to campus.
INSIDE THE SERIES

· Prior to restarting the series in 2009, New Haven and AIC had not met since 1996.

· keep head coach Chris Pincince undefeated against the Yellow Jackets at 7-0
· be the 268th overall victory in the 43 plus year history of Charger Football.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS
New Haven enters its 2022 NE10 opening game with a pair of contests under its belt and a 1-1 overall record after defeating crosstown rival Southern Connecticut this past weekend on the blue turf. After a slow start against the Owls, New Haven scored four times in the final 46 minutes of the game, with rushing touchdowns from Shamar Logan (Brooklyn, N.Y./Erasmus Hall High School) and Christopher Ais (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) as well as a pair of passing TD's from Degenhardt to wide receiver Chris Carlyle (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) and tight end Kevin Foelsch (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey). Carlyle has been the primary target for Degenhardt, with the pair connecting 10 times for 163 yards. Next on the list for Degenhardt has been Dev Holmes (Troy, N.Y./Troy) who has completed six receptions for 144 yards and a pair of TD's. Ais leads the team on the ground with 130 yards on 37 carries. Defensively, New Haven is led by graduate students Devonte Myles (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) and Damon Burton, Jr., who each have 14 tackles. As a unit, the Chargers have 14 tackles for loss and seven sacks which puts them as one of the best defenses in the entire NE10.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
American International enters today's game looking for its first win of the season after dropping a 21-7 decision to Frostburg State in the season opener and a 56-7 loss to Saint Anselm last weekend. The Yellow Jackets are under the direction of second-year head coach Kristofer Kulzer who served as the interim coach in 2021. Graduate quarterback Brandon Robinson has completed 52% of his passes, taking every snap this year and is averaging 163 yards per game. On the ground, the Yellow Jackets are averaging just 71 yards per game, while surrendering an average of 167 yards to their opponents.
