Action Packed Seventh Inning Leads Chargers 9-3 Over Bloomfield

Boca Raton, F.L. – The Chargers soaked up some sun in their first game of their trip to Florida, with a single game against Bloomfield college this morning. The Chargers stole the lead late in the game in a 9-3 victory this afternoon, to improve their record to 7-2 on the season.

Bloomfield College 3, New Haven 9 (9 innings)

After picking up his first win in the four-game series against Bridgeport, graduate Izaiya Mestre (Pittsfield, Mass./Taconic) started on the mound once again for the Chargers to kick off the first of many in Florida. Mestre got right to work only allowing one hit in the first inning.

The Chargers fired up in the offense in the first inning, Cole Maucere (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) would reach second on an error by the left fielder giving New Haven their first base runner of the day. Maucere would advance to third on a fly out to the left fielder, before scoring on a 1-1 single by Tyler Wells (Danville, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy), to give the Chargers the lead.

Bloomfield would take the lead in the top of the fifth when a homerun to center field would bring in 2, advancing Bloomfield's lead to three. The Chargers knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the sixth, when Noah Budzik (Cromwell, Conn./Cromwell) would double on a line drive to left field, scoring one. Following, Andrew Bianco (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) would hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Kenneth Franquiz (Bellmore. N.Y./Mepham).

The game would remain tied at three until the Chargers would have a hot seventh inning, starting off with a leadoff single from Andrew Cain (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) and a single to right field by Tyler Wells (Danville, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy). Tyler Wells (Danville, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) would find himself at second and Cain at third, off a throw for a pickoff attempt at first base. New Haven would force three back-to-back walks, bringing in three runs. The Chargers would find their last two runs of the inning on a sacrifice fly from Andrew Bianco (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) and a balk by Bloomfield's pitcher.

The last run of the game for New Haven would come from an RBI single from Robert Taylor (Wolcott, Conn./The Gunnery) to center field scoring one, keeping the Chargers lead at six. Strong pitching from the Chargers bullpen would keep Bloomfield at three runs for the rest of the game.

Mestre would end up pitching a total of four innings, allowing seven hits and one run, striking out two and walking zero. Bryan Pazulski (Media, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) would earn the win on the mound for the Chargers after coming in for Mestre in the fifth inning. Pazulski went four innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out two. Drew Silverman (Commack, N.Y./Commack) threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

The Chargers racked up ten hits in the game, leading the way was Andrew Cain (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) with three hits in five at bats. Tyler Wells (Danville, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy), Noah Budzik (Cromwell, Conn./Cromwell) and Robert Taylor (Wolcott, Conn./The Gunnery) each had multiple hits for the Chargers.
