Baseball Secures Series Victory with Sunday Split vs Adelphi

West Haven, C.T- The University of New Haven baseball team dropped one of their doubleheader games with the Adelphi Panthers on Sunday. After being shut out in game one, the Chargers bounced back and answered with a 14-7 win for New Haven.

Game 1- Adelphi 5, New Haven 0 (7 Innings)

Following a two-game win on Friday afternoon, the Chargers turned to freshman Tyler Sausville (Schenectady, N.Y./Colonie Central) to kick off the last two-game slate of the series. Adelphi would end up breaking open the game with a single homerun in the top fifth, finding their next few runs within the sixth and seventh inning.

New Haven was unable to find themselves a run throughout the game but tallied a total of five hits throughout the first game. Leading the way at the plate was Andrew Bianco (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) who had two hits in three at bats. The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game, but New Haven was able to come out on top. New Haven got things started in the second inning when Tyler Wells (Danville, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

A big sixth inning from New Haven brought them five runs. Starting off with a homerun from Andrew Bianco (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) bringing in two runs. Big bats from Owen Pincince (North Haven, Conn./North Haven), Robert Taylor (Wolcott, Conn./The Gunnery) and Josh Lester (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) leveled the Chargers off with a five-run inning.
