Pomona, N.Y.- In the five-game series, the Chargers only suffered one lost in last week, before heading to New York to take on the Spartans for one more doubleheader this Monday afternoon. The Chargers offense kicked in for a blow-out win in game one and took game two to complete the series despite a three-run comeback from the Spartans.
Game 1: New Haven 13, STAC 1
The Chargers easily dispatched STAC 13-1, opening up scoring in the first inning. Andrew Cain's (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) sac fly scored one run for the blue and gold.
New Haven would notch four runs in the fifth inning. The big bats were led by Andrew Cain (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) and Matt McIntire (Williamston, N.J./Williamstown), both sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. The blue and gold had three home runs on the day. Andrew Cain (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) went for the long ball in the fifth inning.
McIntire hit a four bagger in the sixth inning, followed by Shaun Callahan (Newington, Conn./Newington) who put one out in the sixth inning.
The Chargers tallied a total of fifteen hits in the first game. Aside from the three home run hitters, Andrew Bianco (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park), and Josh Lester (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) each managed multiple hits for New Haven. Bianco lead the way at the plate with four hits in five at bats. Â
Tyler Sausville (Schenectady, N.Y./Colonie Central) was credited with the victory for New Haven, gathering his fourth win on the season thus far. The hurler surrendered one run on four hits over four and a third innings, striking out six. Bryan Pazulski (Media, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara), Christian De Risi (Hempstead, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial), and Matthew Minio (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa)n all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
Game 2: New Haven 5, STAC 4
The Chargers took a four-run lead in the seventh inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over STAC in game two. STAC scored three runs in the failed comeback, the New Haven bullpen shutting down the comeback to gather the win.
New Haven got things started in the second inning when Andrew Bianco (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) homered on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs. The Chargers would only find that one run until the top of the sixth inning, with a leadoff single from Shaun Callahan (Newington, Conn./Newington). Cole Maucere (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) would lay down a bunt to the pitcher and find himself safe at first from his speed down the basepath. With two runners on, Noah Budzik (Cromwell, Conn./Cromwell) would find a double to center field, advancing to third on the throw home, but scoring one run. After a hit by pitch and two walks, the Chargers would end the top of the sixth with a four-run lead.
The Spartans would find their first run of the game in the bottom of the sixth, but the Chargers would bring back the lead to four in the top of the seventh. Shaun Callahan (Newington, Conn./Newington) would lead the momentum with a single to center field, being brought in by a double from Cole Maucere (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon).
Liam Carroll (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) pitched the Chargers to victory, going five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out seven and walking one. Randy Ramnarace (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) and Drew Silverman (Commack, N.Y./Commack) entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Â
The blue and gold found 11 hits in the second game. Cole Maucere (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon), Shaun Callahan (Newington, Conn./Newington), and Noah Budzik (Cromwell, Conn./Cromwell) all managed multiple hits. Maucere lead New Haven with three hits in three at bats.

The Chargers will continue their play in New York, this time with a conference series against Saint Rose. The first doubleheader against the Golden Knights, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 29th. The first pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
