FULL COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATORS RELEASE

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – A half dozen student-athletes from the New Haven baseball and softball teams were recognized for the success on the field and in the classroom on Tuesday, hauling in Academic All-District accolades as presented by the College Sports Communicators. By earning this distinction, all six are now all eligible for Academic All-America honors as presented by the organization. All-America honorees will be announced on June 6-7.

Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, the Academic All-District and Academic All-America program is the longest running and premier award combining athletic and academic success. To be eligible, student-athletes my have a minimum 3.50 GPA and be a starter or important reserve on their team. Overall, the program honors student-athletes representing 14 individual sports, while others are included in an at-large category.

A senior from Danville, Vt., Tyler Wells (Danville, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) is a communication major with a concentration in journalist with a cumulative grade point average of 3.98 and has been named to the Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll and the New Haven Dean's List all seven semesters he has been on campus.

A senior from Commack, N.Y., Drew Silverman (Commack, N.Y./Commack) is a criminal justice major with a concentration in investigative services with a cumulative grade point average of 3.80. Overall, he has named to the Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll and the New Haven Dean's List all seven semesters he has been at New Haven.

A graduate student from Lumberton, N.J., Selena Aponte (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) is pursuing a Master of Public Health in health sciences after receiving her Bachelor of Science in health sciences in May of 2022. With a cumulative grade point average of 3.88 as an undergraduate and 3.96 as a graduate student, she has been named to the Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll following seven semesters and named to the New Haven Dean's list six times.

A junior from Greenlane, Pa., Halle Frederick (Green Lane, Pa./Quakertown) is a biology major with a double minor in general psychology and sociology. With a cumulative grade point average of 3.74, she has been named to the Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll and the New Haven Dean's list all five semesters she has been on campus.

A graduate student from Rehoboth, Mass., Mia Iodice (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) is pursuing her Master of Science in emergency management after receiving a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice with a concentration in investigative services in January of 2022. With a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 as an undergraduate and 4.0 as a graduate student, she has been named to the Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll following nine semesters and named to the New Haven Dean's list six times as an undergraduate.

A sophomore from Audobon, N.J., Maeve Lougheed (Audobon, N.J./Audobon) is an environmental science major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.75. Overall, she has been named to the Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll and the New Haven Dean's list all three semesters she has been on campus.
