MANCHESTER, N.H. –
The time had come for the meet that the University of New Haven Men's and Women's Track Teams had waited for. Beginning Friday and concluding on Saturday the Chargers were able to compete at the Northeast 10 Conference Championships competing against the best of the conference looking to put the blue and gold atop the podium.

Jordany Dely (Spring Valley, N.Y./Paramus Catholic) took home the Charger's first win of the Championships in the 110m Hurdles. Dely continued his dominance in the event. After running the fastest time of the prelims, crossing with a time of 14.23, Dely followed that up by shaving time off his prelim time running a meet-best time of 14.01 as well as running an NCAA Provisional Time en route to claiming the gold medal in the event.

Jason Lorent (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) claimed New Haven's first medal in the 100m. After running the fourth fastest time of the prelims crossing with a time of 10.98, he would move into the finals where he would run a time of 10.66 finishing with the third fastest time overall claiming a bronze medal.

The 4x400m relay team of Jason Lorent (Shelton, Conn./Shelton), Nathaniel Peters (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton), Jordany Dely (Spring Valley, N.Y./Paramus Catholic), and Blake Jandreau (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall) took home the silver medal in the event crossing with a final time of 3:16.78.

Kenneth Holland (Circleville, N.Y./Pine Bush) took home the bronze medal in the long jump. Holland after fouling his first jump followed that up with a jump of 6.19m. Holland would then go on to add distance to his mark jumping 6.42m on his third jump before jumping 6.71m on his fifth jump claiming the bronze medal in the event. Holland would go on and add his second medal of the meet in the triple jump taking home his second bronze medal. Just as he did in the long jump, Holland fouled his first jump before opening with a mark of 13.44m. He would then add distance to his marks before jumping 13.84m on his third jump to claim his second medal of the meet.

Jonathan Cineus (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) took home the silver medal in the triple jump with a winning mark of 14.22m. After opening up with a mark of 13.65m on his first jump, Cineus added distance to each of his next jumps building up to a final jump where he jumped 14.22m to take the silver medal in the event.

The Chargers continued their dominance in the sandpit as Kristen Washington (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) took home the long jump crown. Washington needed just one jump to win the event jumping her winning mark on her very first jump landing her mark of 5.78m to take the gold medal in the event and take New Haven's second gold of the meet. Washington would add to her medal count in the triple jump by taking home a silver medal. Washington after fouling her first two jumps bounced back with a mark of 11.29m. Washington then would add distance to her mark, jumping 11.62m finishing her with the second-best jump and claiming her second medal of the meet.

Anita Hodge (Fords, N.J./Woodbridge) took home the bronze medal in Discuss. Hodge needed just one throw to put herself on the podium. Hodge threw 36.68m on her very first throw and would get close to that mark with her following throws but her first mark would be her best mark. Hodge would finish third overall claiming the bronze medal in the event.

Neva Bostic (Saint Johnsbury, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) returned to throw Javelin for the meet and found herself finishing with a medal at the end. Bostic needed just one throw to put herself on the podium, which came on her very first throw of the event. Bostic, on her opening throw, threw 35.08m which would hold as her best mark, earning her a silver medal for the event.

Overall the Chargers finished with 10 medals at the Championships, the men's team finished with six medals, one gold, two silver medals, and three bronze medals for a total of 108.50 points to finish fourth overall in the meet. The women's team finished with four medals, one gold, two silver medals, and one bronze medal scoring a total of 73 points and finishing sixth overall.

As the teams celebrate their medals and their wins, the team now must turn their attention to the New England Championships that kick off next week from Boston Massachusetts at the Solomon Outdoor Track.
