WEST HAVEN, Conn –
A year ago the Chargers lone blemish on tier conference record came on the road to Adelphi, Now coming off their first NE10 loss of the year to the Yellowjackets of American International, the University of New Haven Volleyball team returned home to Deborah Chin court for a rematch of the conference championship from a year ago and looking to keep their record at home perfect against the Panthers.

Opening up the first set, Adelphi had the early first points but New Haven with their home crowd behind them quickly jumped into the lead as Amber Williams (Lilburn, Ga./Brookwood) continued her surge out of the middle. Sofia Kamke (Santa Catarina, Brazil/Escola Tecnica do Vale do Itajai) serving led a 5-0 run that forced an early timeout by the Panthers. Adelphi responded late in the set with a run as it was New Haven falling in the first set 25-22 after the first set. As the stands began to fill with more and more Charger fans, New Haven rode the momentum and jumped into the second set. Adelphi had the early lead but New Haven stormed back and took the lead forcing an Adelphi timeout. Adelphi put the pressure on New Haven but Amber Williams (Lilburn, Ga./Brookwood) continued to dominate out of the middle and led a 4-3 run late to take the second set 25-22 and even the match at 1-1. After a big win in the second New Haven only continued to fee the middle as Amber Williams (Lilburn, Ga./Brookwood) and Katharine Rank found space and beat the Adelphi rotations and it was Rank that sealed the deal in the third to win the set 25-21 and go up 2-1 in the match. Not looking to give Adelphi any room to get back into the match, the fourth set was more of New Haven finding Rank and Williams and breaking up the rhythm by attacking the outside with Kamke. New Haven held the lead late in the fourth and withstood the late run by Adelphi as Rank sealed it once again with her leading 17 kill of the match as New Haven won 25-21 and won the match 3-1. Grace Juergens (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) had 15 digs as Tori Borton (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) had 46 assists in the win.
