FULL NORTHEAST-10 RELEASE
WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Following a shutout of American International on Saturday, graduate linebacker Chris Campbell (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) snagged his first Northeast-10 Conference honors as he was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week as announced on Monday afternoon.
Campbell highlighted the Chargers defensive stand with a team-high eight tackles, three solo and five assisted, which also included a team-best 2.5 tackles for loss that resulted in five yards. In addition to his eight tackles, he also added an interception that he returned four yards, a fumble recovery and a quarterback hurry.
Overall, Campbell's  interception was part of three on the day for the New Haven defense who also racked up eight tackles for loss, three of them being sacks, which included a strip sack fumble.
New Haven will enjoy a bye week next weekend, returning to the gridiron for the first of back-to-back road games on Saturday, October 19 when they make the short trip across town for the annual Battle of the Elm City against crosstown rival Southern Connecticut State University at Jess Dow Field. Opening kickoff in the Northeast-10 Conference game is slated for 1:00 p.m. with all of the action available on Flo Sports.
