FULL NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE RELEASE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Following a personal best and Northeast-10 Conference record in the long jump, graduate student Kristen Washington (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) wraps up her collegiate career with a major conference honor when she was named Women's Field Athlete of the Year as voted by the league's coaches.
Washington, who also received NE10 Championship Most Outstanding Field Athlete distinction, took a pair of gold medals at the conference championships adding a title in the triple jump to her long jump school and conference record performance. In the long jump, Washington pushed her personal best to a distance of 6.01 meters (19' 8.75") while she leapt a distance of 12.04 meters (39' 6") in the triple jump.Â
One week later, Washington added one additional first place performance before concluding her career when she took the title of New England Champion in the triple jump with a personal best mark of 12.28 meters (40' 3.5"). She also posted a runner-up finish in the long jump at the New England Championships.
