FULL CSC RELEASE

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – A pair of field hockey players wrapped up the 2023-24 academic year adding another honor to their resume as junior Kelli Jacobson (North Branford, Conn./North Branford) and senior Kat Trammel (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) picked up College Sports Communicators Academic All-District distinction as announced by the organization.

Both Jacobson and Trammel add this latest honor to Northeast-10 All-Conference third team accolades for their success on the field, while both also received NE10 All-Academic honors. Additionally, the pair was recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association with Academic Squad distinction while Jacobson also earned a spot on the Scholars of Distinction.

A criminal justice major with a concentration in investigative services, Jacobson holds a 3.92 cumulative grade point average entering her senior year at New Haven. On the field, Jacobson started all 18 games and recorded a pair of goals and a pair of assists for six points. Both of her goals came on penalty stroke opportunities, with both coming against NE10 foe Saint Thomas Aquinas. Off the field she has been named to the Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll and New Haven Dean's List following all six semesters on campus.

Trammel closed out her senior year with a team-high 26 points, splitting those among team-highs of nine goals and eight assists. Among her nine goals were a pair of game-winners, both of which came in conference action against Molloy and Southern New Hampshire. After earning her Bachelor of Science in forensic science with a biology track this past May, she sports a 3.62 cumulative grade point average and has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all eight semesters and earned New Haven Dean's List honors following four semesters. Trammel will return to the Blue and Gold turf of DellaCamera Stadium in the fall as she pursues a Master of Science in cellular and molecular biology.

Under the direction of first-year head coach Margaret MacLean, the Chargers closed out its 2023 campaign with a 5-13 overall record including a 5-8 mark in the Northeast-10, finishing the regular season tied for eighth in the standings with Franklin Pierce who earned the final spot in the NE10 Championship field due to their head-to-head win over the Chargers.
