MANSFIELD, Mass. – With the first awards of the new year some things never change as the University of New Haven Women's Track and Field team took home weekly awards as announced by the Northeast10.
Jada Kamtha (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Wolmer's Trust High School for Girls) continued to lead the Chargers in the same pit as Kamtha led the way with a winning jump of 5.77(m) meters in her first meet back in the new year. Kamtha added her second win on the weekend in the 55m hurdles, where Kamtha set the pace in both the prelims and finals, running a winning time of 8.50.
With the new year underway and three meets complete, the teams continue to work towards the Northeast 10 Championships. The busy weekends continue for both teams as they have another pair of meets as the weekend begins on Friday, January 17 when they travel to New York to compete at the Ramapo Season Opener, and Saturday the Chargers remain in Connecticut when they travel to the Coast Guard Invitation in New London, Connecticut on Saturday, January 18. All updates, post meet recaps, and postseason news for the team will be available at Newhavenchargers.com.
