WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Women's Volleyball played its first match of the doubleheader against the Le Moyne Dolphins, where it swept 3-0.
The Chargers came out hot, with 11 kills in the first set and winning 25-23. They kept the streak going, dominating the Dolphins 25-14 in the second set. Le Moyne tried to come back in the third set, but New Haven came out on top 25-21.
Lauren MacKellar's (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./Northville) 11 kills and two blocks helped lead the Chargers to the home win.
Naliah Grannell (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) had 10 killer kills and two blocks as well.
Josie Foster (Kurwongbah, Australia) also played a big role with seven kills and two blocks. These all came from
Juli De Acharan's (Sevilla, Spain/IES Nestor Almendros) 29 assists. Payton Malinsoki and
Evelyn Kay Girard (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich Academy) both anchored the Charger's back row with 14 and seven digs, respectively.
The Chargers are back at home on Saturday Nov. 1
st, with their Senior day and second match against the Le Moyne Dolphins. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
