LORETTO, Pa. – New Haven Cross Country took part in the NEC Championship on Saturday. In both men's and women's races, the top 14 finishers receive All-NEC honors.

Senior Mohammed Abunar (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) finished sixth overall in the men's race, earning First-Team All-NEC honors. Abunar becomes the first athlete in New Haven Cross Country history to earn All-Conference status. Abunar's time was 26:09.

Abunar and the men's program finished eighth overall in the conference. The team's top five times totaled 2:19:58.9.

On the women's side, New Haven finished eighth. Danielle Lynch (Hebron, CT/RHAM High School) finished 34th, first among the Blue & Gold. The team's top five times totaled 2:11:10.6.
