New Haven Football Announces Hire of Tim Zetts as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Football has announced the hiring of Tim Zetts as its new Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. With nearly two decades of coaching experience at the highest levels of college football and in the NFL, Zetts brings a wealth of offensive knowledge, leadership, and championship pedigree to interim head coach Mark Powell's staff and the Blue & Gold.

"I'm honored to join New Haven Football at such a pivotal moment in the program's history. Being part of a team making the jump to Division I is an exciting challenge. I believe strongly in Coach Powell and look forward to working alongside him and the rest of the staff. We'll work hard to make our great fanbase and alumni proud," said Zetts.

Zetts most recently served on the staff of the Las Vegas Raiders as an Offensive Assistant and Assistant Offensive Line Coach during the 2024 NFL season. Prior to his time in Las Vegas, he was a key part of the Chicago Bears' offensive staff, coaching quarterbacks and tight ends over two years and playing a major role in the team's red zone success.

Before reaching the professional ranks, Zetts made a national name for himself at Austin Peay State University, where he served as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. Under his leadership, the Governors captured their first Ohio Valley Conference title since 1977 and reached the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time in program history, finishing the season ranked in the top 10 nationally in total yards, red zone scoring, and points per game.

Zetts also held prominent roles at Mississippi State, John Carroll University, and Fordham University before his time at Austin Peay. He consistently developed record-setting offenses and future professional talent, most notably NFL running back Chase Edmonds and national award winner DeAngelo Wilson.

Zetts began his collegiate playing career as a quarterback at the University of Akron, where he was part of the 2005 Mid-American Conference championship team, before transferring to Saginaw Valley State University. He earned a degree in Business and Organizational Communications from Akron in 2009.

"We are thrilled to welcome Tim and his family to the University of New Haven. Tim brings an exceptional offensive mind and an even greater character. With his expertise in the NFL and Division I, he is well-prepared to lead our offense and make an immediate impact on and off the field," said Powell.
