New Haven Loses in Fifth Match Stand-off To Stonehill

EASTON, M.A. – New Haven Volleyball faced their first match-up of the weekend on Friday night against Stonehill where it fell short in the fifth set.

The Chargers put up a tough battle against the Skyhawks in the first two sets, but they were still able to come out on top by a few points. The Chargers were able to pull through for the next sets, winning 25-21 and 27-25, respectively. In the fifth set, the Skyhawks came out on top 15-10. The Chargers had big performances all over the court. Lauren MacKellar (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./Northville) had 15 kills and 11 blocks, Josie Foster (Kurwongbah, Australia) had nine kills and 13 blocks, and Naliah Grannell (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) had 12 kills. Juli De Acharan (Sevilla, Spain/IES Nestor Almendros) contributed 25 assists, and Caroline Johnston (Noelnsville, TN) had 14 assists and three aces. Payton Malinoski (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) anchored the back row with 18 digs.

The Chargers face Stonehill for the second game of the double header on Saturday Sept. 27th at 4:30 p.m.
