WEST HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven Women's Lacrosse Midfielder Summer Castiglione (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) has been named NEC Player of the Week following a standout performance in the Chargers' season-opening 10–7 victory over Sacred Heart University on Wednesday.
Castiglione was a catalyst for the New Haven offense, finishing with three goals and two assists, including what proved to be the game-winning goal. She opened the scoring early with an assist on the first goal of the game and later converted multiple free-position opportunities. She also had two caused turnovers, a draw control, and a ground ball. Her all-around play helped the Chargers establish and maintain momentum throughout the contest, particularly in pivotal moments of the second and third quarters.
The Chargers will be traveling to Spartanburg, S.C., to face Wofford College on Friday, Feb. 27th. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
