WEST HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven Baseball (1-8, 10-) claimed a 13-6 victory over Le Moyne (2-11, 2-2) on Friday at 300 Boston Post Road. The Chargers capitalized on four errors by Le Moyne and drew 10 walks to sustain a consistent offensive rhythm throughout the game.
New Haven established an early lead with a solid offensive effort. In the first inning,
Nick Ungania (Mineola, N.Y./Chaminade) walked and advanced to third on a flyout, scoring on
Casey Cerruto's (Torrington, Conn./St. Paul Catholic) sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1.
The second inning featured a double to right field by Michael Christian, bringing home
Joseph Frazzetta (Howard Beach, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), who reached on an error, putting the Chargers ahead 2-1.
New Haven extended its lead in the third inning. After walks to Ungania and
Jaylin Manson (Newington, Conn./Newington), a passed ball and a sacrifice fly by
Shaun Callahan (Newington, Conn./Newington) scored Ungania. Manson crossed the plate on a wild pitch, while two more runs scored due to a fielding error and a bases-loaded walk, giving New Haven a 6-1 advantage.
In the fourth inning, Manson scored on Cerruto's sacrifice fly, followed by
Shaun Callahan (Newington, Conn./Newington) scoring on Matthew McIntire's RBI single, increasing the lead to 8-2.
The Chargers added two more runs in the fifth inning. Christian scored on Ungania's sacrifice fly, and Manson tripled and scored on a wild pitch, making it 10-3.
In the seventh inning, Manson's single brought home two runs, further extending the lead to 12-5.
The eighth inning saw Christian scoring on Ungania's single, concluding New Haven's scoring at 13-6.
New Haven maintained its lead through the ninth inning, finalizing the 13-6 victory over Le Moyne.
Myles McDermott (Braintree, Mass./Arch Bishop Williams) pitched 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits, striking out 3, and walking 2. He successfully executed a pickoff and had one balk.
Mason Glickman (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) pitched 3 innings in relief, conceding 3 earned runs on 4 hits with 4 walks and 1 strikeout.
Carson Morgan (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) closed with 1 inning, allowing 1 hit and 1 walk, without conceding a run.
Manson recorded three hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs to significantly contribute to the team's offensive output. Christian also collected three hits and added two RBIs, strengthening his team's lead with a double.
