ERIE, Pa. — The New Haven Baseball (3-20, 3-9) faced a tough weekend against Mercyhurst (8-17, 8-7), suffering three consecutive losses with scores of 12-3, 12-2, and 4-3.
In the first game, New Haven was defeated by Mercyhurst with a 12-3 final score on Thursday.
Shaun Callahan (Newington, Conn./Newington) stood out for the Chargers with a three-run home run in the fourth inning. The game began with Mercyhurst taking a commanding lead in the first inning. Logan Koslin was hit by a pitch and scored on Jayden Walker's double. Zachary Kourous then contributed with an RBI double. Mercyhurst added two more runs through singles and a walk, establishing a 5-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, New Haven responded with Callahan's three-run home run that brought in
Jaylin Manson (Newington, Conn./Newington) and
Jake Russo (Yaphank, N.Y./Bellport), closing the gap to 5-3. Mercyhurst extended their lead in the fifth inning as Kourous scored on a single from Ranciel Ventura, and Mike Samarin crossed the plate following a hit by Dana Williams, pushing the score to 7-3. In the seventh inning, Mercyhurst capitalized on a New Haven error and a wild pitch, scoring two unearned runs to make it 9-3. The eighth inning saw Mercyhurst's Kourous hitting a triple, followed by consecutive home runs from Samarin and Ventura, adding three more runs for a 12-3 lead, concluding the game without further scoring from New Haven.
Mason Glickman (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) pitched 5 innings, allowing 7 earned runs on 11 hits, including 3 doubles. He struck out 3 and walked 2.
Myles McDermott (Braintree, Mass./Arch Bishop Williams) relieved him, pitching 2 2/3 innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 5 hits, including 2 home runs and a triple, with one strikeout.
Justin Eckrote (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) faced two batters in the 8th inning, issued one walk, and recorded one flyout. The Chargers' pitchers totaled 7 strikeouts throughout the game.

In the second game on Friday, New Haven faced a 12-2 setback against Mercyhurst. The Chargers managed their two runs in the fifth inning, while Mercyhurst capitalized on 16 walks and five hit batters to secure the victory. Mercyhurst established an early lead in the first inning, taking advantage of a hit-by-pitch and multiple walks. Dana Williams' RBI walk initiated the scoring, followed by Zach Black's two-RBI single to widen the gap. Williams later stole home, giving Mercyhurst a 4-0 lead after the first.
In the fifth, New Haven responded when
Bobby Herzman (Cheshire, Conn./HC Wilcox) doubled to right field.
Nick Ungania's (Mineola, N.Y./Chaminade) RBI single brought Herzman home, and
Joseph Frazzetta's (Howard Beach, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) single scored Ungania, narrowing the deficit to 4-2 after five innings. Mercyhurst extended their lead in the sixth inning with Jayden Walker's RBI single and a series of walks, adding three more runs to make it 7-2. The eighth inning saw another offensive burst from Mercyhurst, as they scored five runs, leading to a final score of 12-2.
Vincent Fusco (Fishkill, N.Y./John Jay East Fishkill) took to the mound for New Haven, pitching 4 innings and allowing 4 earned runs on 4 hits, with 3 strikeouts and 6 walks.

In the third game, New Haven narrowly fell to Mercyhurst with a 4-3 loss. Despite the Chargers' aggressive nine stolen bases, Mercyhurst clinched the win with a decisive three-run eighth inning.
