Grace Simpson (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon), a junior forward for the University of New Haven Women's Soccer team, has been named the NEC Player of the Week for the week of September 14th. 

During this week, Simpson delivered a remarkable performance by scoring two goals in the final 10 minutes against Saint Peter's, securing the Chargers' first win in Division I. This achievement highlights her pivotal contribution to the team's success during the award period.

Simpson's athletic journey reflects consistent growth and accomplishments. As a junior, she has appeared in all 16 matches, accumulating 911 minutes on the field. She has scored one goal and recorded two points, while leading the team with 25 shots and 16 shots on goal. Her previous seasons have also been notable. In 2025, she notched a season-high goal against FDU on September 21, and logged significant playing time in various matches, such as 76 minutes against Stonehill on September 18 and 86 minutes against LIU on October 9. In 2024, she was recognized on the Northeast-10 All-Rookie team after playing in 12 games and starting in nine, finishing with two goals against Felician and an assist versus Southern Connecticut.

Simpson's soccer career began at Brien McMahon High School, where she played for four years and served as a team captain. Her high school accolades include being named First Team All-Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference twice and winning the Chelsea Cohen Award three times.

The University of New Haven Women's Soccer team will continue their season with hopes to build on this significant milestone.
