WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven women's lacrosse team, led by their five seniors, cruised to a 16-9 victory over Saint Anselm College Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Kayo Field. With the win the Chargers improve to 6-8 overall and 5-5 in the Northeast-10 Conference. Saint Anselm falls to 4-8 overall, 2-7 in the NE-10.

Sophomore
Sarah Magnone (Yardley, Penn./Villa Joseph Marie) opened the game with a score in the third minute to put the Chargers ahead early. The teams exchanged another three runs which brought the score even at 2-2. Four unanswered UNH goals gave the Chargers a 6-2 lead with 13:49 left in the first half. In the final 14 minutes the Chargers netted three more, while the Hawks scored two. The Chargers held a 9-4 lead.
Senior
Kristine Lambracht (White House Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central ) opened the second half for the Chargers with her second goal of the game at the 28:07 mark. Two minutes later,
Laura McLean (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport Blue Point) gave the Chargers an 11-4 lead off a goal assisted by
Natalie Lieberman (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor). The teams exchanged another eight goals before
Kristina Curry (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) gave UNH a 16-8 lead with 10:08 left in the second half. The Hawks scored the game's final goal in the last minute and moved the score to 16-9.
Magnone and senior
Sarah LeGoff (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) led the team with four goals each. LeGoff added an assist. Lieberman led the team with six total points off three goals and three assists. Lambracht scored two goals in her final game at Kayo Field, while also leading the team with four ground balls.
The Chargers clinched the sixth seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship with the win. After concluding the regular season on Wednesday, April 28 at American International College, the Chargers will most likely head to Merrimack or Southern New Hampshire in the opening round of the NE-10 Tournament on Wednesday, May 5.
