Ade Barek (London, England/West Catholic / Saint Petersburg College) combined for 28 points and 18 rebounds, while the Chargers held the Yellow Jackets to 13 first-half points in the victory.
The Chargers improved to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference with the win. The Yellow Jackets fell to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in conference play with the loss.
Exum hit a three-pointer to open scoring in Tuesday's game and the Chargers didn't look back the entire night. UNH scored the first seven points and led 11-2 four minutes into the first half. At the 6:08 mark, the Chargers took a 12-point, 22-10, lead off a #Jeffery Adkins, Jr.
three-pointer. New Haven continued to improve upon its lead and (London, England/West Catholic / Saint Petersburg College)Jeremy Williams# hit a three-pointer with 49-seconds left in the first half to take a 21-point, 34-13, lead. The Chargers held on to the lead and kept a 21-point advantage at the break.
The Chargers held AIC to five first-half baskets and just 13 points. The Yellow Jackets added two free throws to combine for 13 points.
New Haven scored the first basket of the second half to take its largest lead of the game, 36-13. The Yellow Jackets then started cutting down the deficit, including a 7-0 run over the next minute. The Chargers maintained a lead of at least 14 points throughout the next nine minutes. AIC connected on a pair of free throws at the eight-minute mark to cut the Chargers' lead to 13, 46-33. New Haven rallied with its own 7-0 run to again improve its lead to 20 points, 53-33. In the final five minutes, the Chargers led by as many as 22 points before capturing a 20-point victory.
Exum led the team with 17 points, while adding six rebounds. Barek chipped in with a double-double, 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Chargers shot 39.7-percent from the floor and 66.7-percent from the free throw line. The Yellow Jackets were held to 30-percent from the floor and 56.3-percent from the free throw line. The Chargers out-rebounded the Yellow Jackets 52-27. New Haven grabbed 36 total defensive boards and 16 offensive rebounds.
