Jamerson's Career Game Not Enough as Chargers Fall to Golden Knights

ALBANY, N.Y. - The University of New Haven men's basketball team fell 84-73 to the College of Saint Rose Golden Knights Wednesday night in New York. Senior forward Rob Jamerson enjoyed a career night with 31 points and nine rebounds. With the loss, the Chargers fell to 7-17 overall and 5-15 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Golden Knights moved to 18-7 overall and 13-7 in conference play.

Jamerson netted the the first basket one minute in to give the Chargers an early lead. Six quick unanswered points gave the Golden Knights the lead, 8-4. The game remained close, within six points, until the final four points of the first half. Saint Rose turned a four-point lead, 29-25, into a 14-point lead at the end of the half, following a 15-5 run.

UNH shot 50-percent from the floor in the first half, while the Golden Knights shot 52.9-percent. The largest difference in the first half was a 20-11 advantage on the boards. Jamerson scored 16 in the first half.

Freshman Justin Exum netted a three-pointer on the Chargers first possession out of the break to cut the Chargers deficit to 11 points, 44-33. Throughout the second half, the Golden Knights maintained a double-figure lead. Midway through the half, St. Rose went on a 10-2 run to take their largest lead of 21-points, 63-42. After gradually chipping away at the lead, Mike Stys hit a three-pointer with just over one-minute remaining to bring the Chargers within nine points, 80-71. A basket in the paint and a pair of free throws in the final minute, sealed the win for St. Rose.

Jamerson added 15 points in the second half for 31 points on the night. He also came one rebound shy of a double-double. The Chargers finished the game shooting 51.6-percent, but were out-rebounded 40-27 in the game. Jeff Adkins and Justin Exum added 17 and 16 points, respectively.

The Chargers return to action on Saturday when they travel to Pace University for their final road game of the 2010-11 season. Game time in Pleasantville, N.Y. is set for 3:30 p.m.
