BOX SCORE MANCHESTER, N.H. – The University of New Haven women’s soccer team was defeated 2-0 by Southern New Hampshire University Wednesday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Quarterfinals at Larkin Field in Manchester, N.H. The Chargers dropped to 11-7-1 overall with the loss.
Ranked No. 7 in the most-recent NCAA Division II East Region Rankings, the Chargers will likely miss out on one of the top six spots in the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer East Region Championship next week. The NCAA will announce its field of postseason field on Monday, Nov. 5 online at

The Penmen were first to strike in the ninth minute when Lexxi Carroll put a ball in over the out-stretched arms of
Natasha Purchla (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) from just outside the 18-yard box. SNHU continued to controlled possession in the following minutes and registered another shot from outside the box in the 10th minute but it sailed wide right.
Southern New Hampshire continued to control a majority of possession in the first half and led 8-3 in shots at the break. New Haven also trailed 0-2 in corner kick attempts.
Both teams mounted scoring opportunities in the first 10 minutes of the second half, but it was the Penmen who improved their lead to 2-0 off a penalty kick in the 56th minute.
The Chargers’ offense was stifled by the Penmen for the remainder of the second half, holding them scoreless. The Penmen held New Haven to one shot in the final 30-minute of the game.
The Chargers trailed 4-15 in shots, including 3-6 in shots on goal.
