WEST HAVEN, Conn. - After defeating Pace University in its first postseason win since 2005, the University of New Haven men's basketball team is heading to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship tournament quarterfinals on Sunday, February 26 at 1 p.m. against second-seed Adelphi University.
The tenth seeded Chargers defeated Pace 51-49 in their opening round game and won their first postseason game in the Northeast-10 Conference. Ironically, the Chargers take on Adelphi Sunday afternoon. The Panthers were UNH's most recent postseason victory prior to Friday night. The Chargers defeated the Panthers 56-41 back in the 2005 East Coast Conference Championship tournament. In their two meetings this year, Adelphi gained the upper hand. On November 22, the Panthers traveled to Charger Gymnasium and defeated UNH 66-61, while the second meeting took place on January 31 in Garden City with the Panthers pulling off a 64-61 win.
Under second-year head coach
Ted Hotaling, the Chargers have posted a 15-12 mark this season. The 15 wins are the most since 2004-05 and only the fourth time since 1992-93 that the Chargers have hit the 15-win total.
