The University of New Haven men's soccer team returns home following a three-match road trip to host visiting Merrimack. The contest will be played under the lights on Kayo Field at 7 p.m. to conclude the University's Homecoming Weekend festivities.

The Chargers enter the weekend at 1-10-1 overall and 1-7-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference. New Haven was most recently on the pitch on Wednesday, dropping a 3-0 decision at Adelphi. James Pyatsky (Stewart Manor, N.Y./Garden City) made eight saves, including a stop on a penalty kick, in the loss.

The New Haven offense has been led by five points from Matt Dillon (Toms River, N.J./Monsignor Donovan), who has tallied one goal and three assists thus far in his rookie campaign. Fellow freshman Alain Laurent (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) is the lone Charger with multiple markers after netting a pair of goals in the 6-3 win at Saint Anselm on Sept. 28. Andres Torres (MedellÃn, Colombia/Norwalk (Conn.) / Adelphi University), Eric Robertson (Stratford, Conn./Stratford), Sal DiTommaso (Farmington, Conn./Farmington / Central Connecticut State University), JP TDiTommaso, Oscar Johannesson (Hässleholm, Sweden/Hässleholms Tekniska Skola), Will Richard (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) and Emil Thomsen (Værløse, Denmark/Birkerød Gymnasium) have also found the back of the net for the Chargers.

The Merrimack College Warriors will bring a 9-3-0 overall record with a 7-2-0 Northeast-10 mark to West Haven on Saturday. Winners of their last two contests, the Warriors most recently took a 1-0 result at Stonehill on Wednesday. Merrimack has not allowed a goal in its last 208:31 of action.

Augusto Silva leads the team offensively with four goals and two assists, while Douglas Searl and Michael Buraczynski have picked up three markers apiece. Jose Silva has played all but eight minutes in goal this fall, posting 0.67 goals-against average with five shutouts to his credit.

The Chargers' homestand continues on Tuesday, Oct. 22 with a visit from crosstown rival Southern Connecticut State. The 7 p.m. match on Kayo Field follows a 4 p.m. women's soccer contest featuring New Haven and visiting Pace.
