One of the last regular-season road trips for the University of New Haven women's soccer team will also be the longest as the Chargers head north to Saint Michael's College in Colchester, Vt. New Haven begins the weekend at 7-3-3 overall and 5-3-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Most recently, the Chargers dropped a 1-0 decision at Adelphi on Wednesday, Oct. 16. New Haven will enter the weekend tied with Merrimack for fourth in the conference, though the Warriors own the tiebreaker by virtue of head-to-head result. The top-eight teams in the Northeast-10 qualify for the postseason with the top four guaranteed to host at least one playoff contest.

Monica Yanez (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) remains atop the Northeast-10 leaderboard with 11 goals, while Amber Simms (Southport, England/Southport) sits in second place with 10 markers alongside Sonia Basma from American International. Basma is also the conference leader with 28 points followed by 25 apiece by Yanez and Simms. Nicole Pacapelli (West Haven, Conn./West Haven / Stonehill College) has netted two goals this fall for the Chargers followed by Marisa Garcia (Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon), Carlie Schecht (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip), Courtney Marra (New Fairfield, Conn./Immaculate), Ashley Dawson (Northbridge, Mass./Northbridge) and Tami Vargas (Vernon, N.J./Vernon) with one goal each.

Natasha Purchla (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) and Moriah Saidel (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) have combined for a 1.23 goals-against average and an .800 save percentage between the posts. Schecht, Amanda Hathaway (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater), Taylor Szyarto (Howell, N.J./Howell) and Miranda Smith (Magnolia, Del./Camden) comprise the back row protecting the Charger goalkeepers.

As a team, New Haven has scored 28 goals while ceding 17 through 13 matches. The Chargers have posted two shutouts (NYIT, Saint Anselm) and have been blanked on two occasions (AIC, Adelphi).

Led by first-year head coach Wendy Elles, Saint Michael's has netted just one goal en route to an 0-12-0 record with an 0-10-0 mark in conference play. The Purple Knights' goal came off the foot of Michaela Horne in a Sept. 18 home loss to Stonehill. Kaylee Sullivan has played a majority of the minutes in goal with Aubrey Ouellet also seeing time as the Saint Michael's keeper.

The Purple Knights have allowed 24 goals, an average of 2.00 per match.

Following this weekend's trip to the Green Mountain State, New Haven will take the pitch at Kayo Field for the final time in the 2013 regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 22 with a visit from Pace. The action on Senior Day begins at 4 p.m. and will be broadcast live in high definition and free of charge on NewHavenChargers.com.
