Kristen Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) recorded 10 kills and rounded out her second double-double of the fall with 12 digs. As a unit, the Chargers hit .170 – sparked by a .421 clip in the fifth and final set.

Â
The visitors appeared poised to claim the match, leading 2-1 with a 23-19 advantage in set four. However, two Atufunwa kills bookended a four-point spurt that knotted the frame at 23-23. A service error would end the run and give Dowling a match-point opportunity, but three-straight kills by Lee completed the Chargers' comeback, 26-24, to force a fifth set.
Â
Set five featured two lead changes and eight ties, the last of which came at 11-11. A kill by Ane and a Dowling attack error broke the stalemate and forced a Golden Lions' timeout. Another hitting error out of the stoppage brought the contest to match point for New Haven and, after the visitors staved off elimination temporarily, an errant serve by Dowling wrapped up the Chargers' five-set win with a 15-12 decision.
