The University of New Haven women's soccer team looks to get back on track after its first loss of 2013, traveling to North Andover, Mass. to challenge Merrimack. The Chargers are currently 5-1-3 overall with a 3-1-2 Northeast-10 record.

Most recently, New Haven was bested at No. 7 American International on Wednesday evening by a score of 4-0. The nationally-ranked Yellow Jackets are yet to allow a goal en route to an 8-0-0 start to their 2013 campaign. The setback snapped the Chargers' eight-match unbeaten streak to begin the season – the best start in program history.

Two of the four student-athletes currently leading the Northeast-10 with eight goals apiece are the two starting forwards for Head Coach Laura Duncan – Amber Simms (Southport, England/Southport) and Monica Yanez (West Haven, Conn./West Haven). The duo has also contributed 19 total points apiece, one shy of the conference lead.  Amanda Hathaway (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater) has handed out a team-leading three assists for the Chargers.

Natasha Purchla (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) has logged the majority of time between the posts this fall. The junior goalkeeper owns a 0.87 goals-against average with one solo shutout as well as a clean sheet in a combined effort with classmate Moriah Saidel (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee).

Coming off of a scoreless draw at Le Moyne last Saturday, the Merrimack College Warriors stand at 4-2-2 on the season with a 2-1-2 Northeast-10 record. 2012 First Team All-Northeast-10 forward Danielle Dion leads the club with eight points courtesy of two goals and a team-best four assists. Jenna Savi and Alana Vecchiarello share the team high with three goals apiece.

Nicole Curtis has started all eight matches in goal for the Warriors, posting a 1.09 goals-against average and three total shutouts – two solo and one alongside Meghan Gulbrandsen.

Saturday's match is the second of three-straight road contests for the Chargers. New Haven will travel to nearby Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday, Oct. 8 before returning to Kayo Field to host Franklin Pierce on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.
